Full Sunlight


Hydrangeas thrive in partial shade but too much shade can result in reduced flower output. They benefit from morning sun and partial shade in the afternoon heat, a north or east facing window is perfect for them.

Frequent Watering


Through the growing season Hydrangeas need consistent moisture so give your plant a good water one to two times every week. Make sure to heavily water to ensure that the root system is hydrated enough.



Hydrangeas can grow in a wide variety of soil types, but they do best in fertile humus rich soil. You can control the color of the bloom by soil pH, acidic soil with a pH of 6.0 or lower results in blue flowers and neutral to alkaline soil with a pH of 7.0 or higher produces pink blooms.

The plant prefers mild temperatures and a moderate to high humidity level.
