Orchid Spotting in Panama

As much as I adore living on California’s beautiful Central Coast, I got bit by the travel bug about ten years back and LOVE exploring new places.  So when a good friend announced that she’d be getting married on the beach in Costa Rica, I immediately ran out to buy travel books and start planning!  We ended up spending time in neighboring Panama as well, and while I think many people associate those countries with gorgeous beaches (and Panama with its famous canal), we were probably most impressed with the incredible plant life that we saw. Read More

Beneficial Insects

In an effort to use fewer chemicals, Rocket Farms recently began utilizing beneficial insects as part of a biological crop protection plan. Greenhouse crops can be sensitive to a variety of pests, and the more diverse your crops are the more diverse the insects that are attracted to them. The traditional reactive approach would be to wait for pests to appear and then apply the appropriate chemical to control them.  Read More

Sustainability: Standards, Challenges, and Where It's Headed

Sustainability has become a big buzzword in agriculture lately as more growers and suppliers seek out ways to have less impact on the planet.   As recognized by our recent Veriflora certification, Rocket Farms has actively sought out sustainable practices for a long time, and it’s an issue we genuinely care about Read More
