Thinking Ahead: Valentine’s Day

Orchids vs. Cut Flowers

It is that time of year again when we have to start deciding what to get our sweethearts for Valentine’s Day. Cut flowers have become extremely common this time of year, but take some time to reconsider:

  • Orchids have age-old symbolism: beauty, sophistication, fertility, love.
  • Because orchids come in a plethora of different sizes and colors, you can find one just as unique as the person you’re buying it for.
  • Be different! Cut flowers are the same every year.
  • Potted orchids bloom for months and only need watered every 20 days. Little maintenance, maximum beauty.
  • Grown in California. Many cut flowers are imported from other countries and then soon after go into the landfills. Buying potted flowers from California both reduces the environmental impact and helps support American workers.

Valentine’s Day is on Tuesday, February 14th. Be different, surprising and romantic!

Ok, good idea, how do I order one? They don't have these in my Safeway store.
